Hillfields has in recent years benefitting from new housing developments such as those in Lower Ford Street and the City Estate on the former Highfield Road football ground site.  The Whitefriars Housing Group has recently invested significantly in refurbishing the flats in the Village Square area of Hillfields, a visible sign of the improvements in local housing made in recent years.
