Coventry Community Empowerment Network

Coventry CEN is a network of community groups from across the city. 

 

CEN brings together members groups and organisations who are interested in making a difference to their neighbourhood, community and city.

 

CEN helps to ensure the community voice is heard by the people and organisations who make the decisions that affect our lives.

 

CEN enables the community to work at the centre of the decision making process.

 

CEN is an independent network not aligned with any political party.

Voluntary Action Coventry Funding Advice and Support Group Project

The aim of the programme is to assists VCO's in particular new and emerging community groups, with project development.  Including the setting up of their group, governance and legal issues, and implementing organisational policies.

 

They offer one to one support with funding issues.  Working through the areas of an organisations structure, management and procedures.  All areas that are identified through an initial health check with the individual group. 

 

They offer a series of accredited and non-accreditted training courses. 

 

Peer support groups are available for key workers and committee members to network and enable them to exchange information, skills and experiences, and share similarities within their projects. 

 

Funding searches will be carried out with groups on a more comprehensive level with GRANTfinder.  The Funderfinder facility will be made available to groups who would like to come and do their own funding searches, and have access to VAC's library.

 

The project also provides a monthly newsletter "Forward Planning" covering topics ranging from funding news, organisational and developmental information to legal issues.

Coventry Ethnic Minority Action Partnership

 

CEMAP

CEMAP exists to promote harmony, leading to prosperity, within and between all communities in Coventry. Specifically CEMAP aims to work with people, organisations and agencies to improve the delivery of services to Ethnic Minority Communities in Coventry.

CEMAP brings together people, organisations and groups from within the Voluntary and Community Sector and the Statutory Sector with a specific focus on Ethnic Minority issues.  The network celebrates the coming together of people from diverse ethnic Minority communities, including the New Communities, different Faith Groups, voluntary organisations and colleagues from the Statutory Sector to improve the quality of life for all Coventry residents.

 CEMAP supports the development of a diverse and vibrant Ethnic Minority Voluntary and Community Sector in Coventry

  • Provide strategic representation on Ethnic Minority issues across the city, including within the statutory sector.
  • Provide a network for Ethnic Minority Voluntary and Community groups and organisations across the city, including the New Communities within Coventry.
  • Help create a range of opportunities for Ethnic Minority groups and organisations to come together, network, share ideas, discuss issues of mutual interest and concern and develop best practice.
  • Provide regular cultural and social events enabling all communities to come together, thus strenghtening community cohesion and improve community integration.
  • Develop and strengthen the capacity of the Ethnic Minority Voluntary and Community sector.

CEMAP holds :

 ·        Community and cultural events

·        Workshops, training and conferences

·        Consultation opportunities 

CEMAP has a steering group which is elected by the members at the Annual General meeting. The CEMAP Steering Group is drawn from the wider membership. It has two co-chairs who share leadership of the organisation. The steering group meets on a monthly basis to oversee the work of the organisation

Membership is FREE and is open to:

·       People in Ethnic Minority led Voluntary and Community Sector, groups and organisations 

·        People within the Voluntary and Community Sector with a particular focus on Ethnic Minority issues 

·        People within the statutory services, supporting people from Ethnic Minority Communities

·        Individuals

Adept

Adept provides tailored support to community groups.  It provides both the skills and the knowledge to enable activists to develop individually and support their local groups and communities, while providing a greater understanding of local communities, their development and the political and wider issues affecting their empowerment and engagement.  

 

Adept has approved status with the Open College Network and the portfolio of ever expanding topics offered in modular format.
