Description and Objectives
The project aims to continue with building the capacity of the Organisation to enable it to continue with the level of activities that Osaba provides to its members and to attract resources for sustainability.
  • A series of empowerment and development programmes will be embarked upon to continue to offer black women the support and empowerment to effectively organise themselves and engage in the wider regeneration strategy that has ignored the gender difference in the participation rate of local residents.
  • To strengthen the organisation for the long-term sustainability through effective management of resources and systems and to assist management Committee members to fulfil their obligations under charity-law.
  • Build the membership of the organisation through cultural activities, which will in turn provide opportunity for volunteers to acquire skills and apply them.
  • Encourage Partnership activities and networking though visits to other similar organisations.
  • To implement services and support which directly assists and meets the needs of the community.

The benefits of the Project are:

  • The capacity of the organisation will be enhanced so that it can play an active role in the regeneration of Hillfields and will encourage its members to participate in the local regeneration strategy thereby generating a sense of local ownership and control, which will in turn encourage sustainability.

The project contributes to under measure 3b of the Hillfields URBAN Action Plan.
