Description and Objectives
This project will develop the Hillfields area of the Phoenix 5 Credit Union (which covers Hillfields, Foleshill and Longford).

It includes:

  • Providing resources to the Credit Union and setting up its local office.
  • Registering the Credit Union.
  • Training volunteers.
  • A part time worker to support the volunteers for 3 years.

By helping to build up the area’s Credit Union, the project will benefit Hillfields residents in addressing the issue of poverty. This will be done in ways, which encourage self- help and financial independence.

This meets the requirements of Measure 3, Action e in the Hillfields Urban Action Plan – supporting "initiatives that assist local economically active people to address the issue of poverty." It also meets the requirements of action b to "enable local groups to design and manage projects…" by building up the strength and capacity of the local credit union.
