Description and Objectives
This project will appoint a Full Time Community Sport Development Officer to work in Hillfields. The work programme of the post holder will be to help with the regeneration of Hillfields by linking closely with the actions identified in the Hillfields Urban Action Plan, particularly measure 3b. A main focus will be to establish a broader choice of sport locally which will make a real difference to the lives of Coventry residents. The postholder will reduce social exclusion and isolation by:
  • Helping people to develop self esteem, confidence and new friendships through involvement in sport and physical activity;
  • Setting up new sporting opportunities for local people using residents taking part in the proposed ESF Sport Training and Employment Project as paid instructors;
  • Empowering local people to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to set up new Community Sports Structures, including Sport Clubs;
  • Encouraging and supporting local people to work together and organise sport events
