The project meets the priorities of the programme by : -

Partnership Approach

The centre has a multi agency management committee with local resident representatives. The Centre is closely linked to the Hillfields regeneration projects through representation on WATCH and has positive working partnerships with other local community groups eg. OSABA.

Location Priority

The Hillfields Early Years Centre is based in the Hillfields area, with a long-term commitment to meet the needs of the local community.

Community Consultation

Informal consultation as part of the local and national evaluation of the Early Excellence Centre have highlighted the gap in provision for Under 2’s. A recent local audit as part of the Coventry Early Years Development Plan and the Hillfields Local Early Years Group, identified the need for provision for very young children (under 2 years) and availability of childcare for those wishing to return to return to work.

Benefits to Area Residents and their Representatives Community Groups

This project will offer a wider choice of childcare provision for resident’s young children, by developing a Childminder Network in Hillfields, focusing on the rich ethnic and cultural mix of the Hillfields community, will build the capacity of Hillfields residents to improve the quality of childcare.
