Description and Objectives
The aim of the project is to build on the successful experience of the netWORK project’s services to employers, by expanding the local employer liaison role. This features a two-worker project. The key activities of the project are:
  • To develop a register of local businesses
  • To provide best advice and brokerage for local businesses from statutory and non statutory agencies
  • To create/safeguard local jobs
  • To develop a Hillfields Business Forum

The purpose of the Employer Liaison is to support local businesses and help to increase their competitiveness. Other benefits of this will include the creation/ safeguarding of local jobs, and improving the local environment through successful businesses improving the vibrancy, image and security of the area. The Employer Liaison Officer will also be in a position to help local businesses access grant funding for training and qualifications thus improving the skills and qualifications base of local people. The Employer Services Manager will add value to the project by networking with other initiatives and key partner agencies facilitating best advice and avoiding duplication of service.

By working in partnership with the Chamber (Business Link), Coventry City Council (Coventry Centre for Investment) and the Employment Service, the Employer Liaison Brokerage aims to help businesses access a range of appropriate grants, funding and services to add value to local businesses and sustain and develop the employment opportunities of local people.

This initiative meets criteria described under Measure 2 (Infrastructure and Enterprise Development) through improving business confidence in the area and engaging local businesses in the regeneration of the URBAN area via image improvements, improved security and links to local job opportunities.
