Aims and Activities Covered by the Project
The project is designed to support the Coventry Community Plan by offering one of the most under-privileged section of the City, and where a number of under privileged young people reside, the opportunity for the community to provide work placements and better education qualifications. This will be done by operating precise and personally designed training plans for young people with NVQ’s obtained at the end of the placement. In most cases it will be possible to provide jobs for a section of the community that will otherwise be overlooked or socially excluded. The Project will be a vehicle that with the co-operation of the local people and the local agencies operating in Hillfields, to give the young people hope and commitment. A further aim is to lift the whole base of educational achievement of the young people of Hillfields upwards by achieving passes in NVQ’s especially where lack of achievement at school may well have been due to taking exams in a second language (English?). Primarily the scheme is about hope. By offering meaningful training and work experience we will take our young people to a level which will allow give them to better work opportunities.
