In 2002 the Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR) undertook a major sociological investigation of local communities in Coventry. They studied the communities in three local neighbourhoods in the city: Hillfields, Earlsdon and Canley. The research was published in an important book written by Victoria Nash with Ian Christie which included a number of recommendations to central and local Government about how to protect and develop communities in the implementation of public policy. The IPPR has given permission for extracts from the report to be incorporated on this website.

The Executive Summary of the report.

Extract from Chapter 2 - Hillfields - a description of the local community in Hillfields.
