Foleshillfields Vision Project
Awards for Bridging Cultures To all of our friends and well wishers we just want to share our good news with you all! FolesHillfields won the Awards for Bridging Cultures - its a National Award from the Baring Foundation in conjunction with the Institute for Community Cohesion - for organisations working to bring communities together. We won the category of voluntary organisation with a turn over of under £1 million (we had approx turnover of £30k in this last year!) Eighteen of us went to receive our award in London and it was one of the proudest moments in the organisation's short history, especially considering the other brilliant organisations that were up for the award with us. If you'd like to read more about the award itself then go to this link - in the next month or so they will have a video of us up therehttp://www.bridgingcultures.org.uk thanks for all the support that we have received from you over the last couple of years and I hope we can continue to work together one way or another.

WATCH
WATCH Ltd managed to acquire the £2,500 to fund this year’s Pantomime for the 1350 Hillfields children from Southfields School, St Mary’s and St Benedict’s Primary School, Frederick Bird Primary School, Hope Centre Nursery and Hillfields Young People’s Centre. The project was funded by Heart of England Community Foundation, AXA, Singer Residents Association, King Edward Residents Association and WATCH Ltd. Many thanks go out to the Coventry Evening Telegraph for highlighting the funding difficulties we had in organising this years event and thanks also go to all those who contributed financially or through volunteering; in particular West Midlands Police and PCSO’s and Coventry City Council’s Neighbourhood Wardens who ensured that all the children got safely to and from the 4 performances held over a two day period at the Hope Centre in Hillfields. The children all had a really great time judging by the laughter and screams of ‘he’s behind you’ etc; many of whom haven’t and wouldn’t otherwise have had the opportunity to see such a theatre production. The performance was ‘Rumpelstiltskin’ by Golden Egg Productions from London. (Attached picture shows Hillfields school children enjoying the day).
Community Safety
Children of All Saints School and Gosford Park School who are members of the Safer Neighbourhood Group are celebrating a new children's youth club in the area. On Monday 19 January All Saints School will be hosting the first board meeting of the Charterhouse Children's Youth Club which will also be attended by Gosford Park School children. The children intend to elect a children's committee jointly from both schools who will then agree and make decisions on the future activities of the club through consultation with its members. The children originally raised the issues at the SNG only a couple months ago and are now arranging their own steering group. For more information please contact Peter Garbett on 7678 8500
