Brief description of the project?
Car Sense is a proactive project to increase public safety and reduce crime by helping refugees – and other Hillfields residents – to pass their driving test and use their cars legally and safely. It will also provide purposeful activity for some refugees leading to further training and employment. It involves
a.
education about driving licenses, car tax, MOTs and insurance
b.
subsidised driving lessons and help with theory and practical test
applications
c.
garage space to maintain cars and get them MOT compliant
What other
organisations are involved in the project?
The main partners are the Police, the Refugee Community Groups and LETS . Colleges will also be involved through provision of ESOL for driving courses.
