Welcome to the on-line summary of the draft neighbourhood plan for Hillfields. These pages summarise the things that the Area Co-ordination partners are planning to do to make Hillfields a better place to live in.
What is the purpose of the plan?
The Neighbourhood Plan is aimed at improving the quality of life for all residents, groups and businesses in Hillfields now and in the future. The plan contains hundreds of actions that will help to achieve the ten year Vision for Hillfields. The Vision says how local people want their neighbourhood to develop.
The key purpose of the plan is:
Bring together work undertaken by different partnership organisations active in Hillfields.
Identify what actions are required to meet local needs and say who is going to do them.
Allow progress to be measured in meeting needs and moving towards achieving the Vision.
"Hillfields will be a desirable and positive place to live and to work in; a place that people value and where they are prepared to invest their time, energy and money. People will see Hillfields as "the village community in the heart of the city". (Hillfields Vision)
About this plan….
How was the plan developed?
Work for this plan began in the summer of 2001 with a community consultation event at the football ground. Since then several other meetings have been held and a further consultation exercise was undertaken in early 2002. Some of the key agencies in developing this plan have been:
Hillfields Neighbourhood Team – The team is made up from representatives of partner organisations in Hillfields (e.g. the council, police, and Primary Care Trust. Community representation is assured via WATCH Ltd.
Action Groups and Strategy Development Groups meet regularly to prepare the plan and monitor its progress. They are made up of professionals and community members. Each group is themed like the plan (e.g. Environment Action Group, Health Action Group, etc.).
What happens to the plan now that it's been written?
Now it is up to the agencies that have said they will do certain things to do them. The plan will be monitored every six months to make sure that there is progress.
At the end of each year the plan will be reviewed and revised to extend it another year so that it always looks three years ahead.
The main partners involved in preparing this plan were:
Coventry City Council
WATCH Ltd.
Residents of Hillfields
West Midlands Police
The Learning and Skills Council -Coventry and Warwickshire
Employment Service
Whitefriars Homes North
Touchstone Housing
Focus Housing
Coventry Chamber
Coventry Primary Care Trust
WM Fire Service
