Support the Hillfields community by:
Supporting existing and new groups, to help them achieve their aims and be involved in local decision making.
Helping groups find suitable funding so that they can organise community activities.
Making sure the local community has venues available for them to use in the Hillfields area.
Working with local groups to make them more self sufficient and able to access funding and helping new groups to set up.
Employing a worker to develop the Hillfields 12 Tenants Resource Centre.
Celebrate Diversity by:
Encouraging the local community and agencies to recognise and celebrate the cultural diversity of Hillfields.
Providing support to asylum seekers and refugees to help them integrate with the Hillfields community.
Providing a wide range of cultural information in a variety of formats including on the Internet.
Holding cultural events to encourage the integration of various groups.
Encourage over 50’s to celebrate their lives and share their achievements while increasing the opportunities for continued social and educational activities.
Continue to work with the over 50’s Forum and other older people in Hillfields.
Make learning opportunities available to all.
Encourage older people to use the WATCH ICT centre.
Set up a group to look at the problems of the lonely and housebound in Hillfields.
Make relevant information readily available to over 50’s to ensure they are aware of what is available to them
Improve culture and leisure opportunities by:
Employing a worker to develop opportunities in Hillfields and help groups find funding for cultural and leisure activities.
Developing opportunities for swimming and exercise at Sidney Stringer School with Coventry Sports Trust.
Developing music, drama dance and other arts based activities for Hillfields residents with the Belgrade Theatre.
Promoting the Passport to Leisure and Learning Scheme.
